How OHBA Can Help

For Ontario Homeowners

At the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA), our mission is to champion policies and initiatives that support a healthy housing market while promoting affordability, choice, and quality for all Ontarians.

Who We Are

OHBA is a voluntary association made up of 4,000 member companies across 28 local associations, working collaboratively to address the challenges and opportunities in Ontario’s housing market. Governed by a dedicated Board of Directors and supported by expert committees, we are committed to creating a thriving housing industry for everyone.

Here’s what we do—and don’t do—for homeowners:

How OHBA Helps Homeowners

  • Advocating for Affordability: We push for policies that make housing more affordable, such as addressing HST on new homes and advocating for fair development fees.
  • Increasing Housing Supply: OHBA supports measures to speed up approvals, unlock land for building, and streamline processes to ensure more homes are available to meet Ontario’s growing demand.
  • Representing the Industry: We act as the voice for Ontario’s residential construction industry, a sector that contributes over $90 billion to the province’s economy annually.
  • Sharing Resources: Through our municipal, provincial, and national networks, we provide valuable insights and connections that benefit the housing industry and homeowners alike.

What OHBA Does Not Do

While we represent and advocate for the residential construction industry, OHBA does not handle individual homeowner complaints or disputes with builders or renovators.

If you have concerns about your home or project, such as warranty issues or disputes, please visit our Homeowner FAQs page for guidance on registering concerns with the appropriate authorities.
