As Ontario’s housing sector evolves, OHBA is creating space for our members to shape what comes next—driving innovation, improving performance, and advancing practical solutions for a rapidly changing landscape. We’re launching three new technical subcommittees focusing on some of the most pressing and transformational areas in residential construction today. These groups will serve as platforms for industry leadership—bringing together builders, developers, manufacturers, and innovators to shape policy, share solutions, and drive practical outcomes that support housing delivery across the province.

If you’re interested in contributing to any of these important conversations, use the links under each description to get involved!

Construction Technology Subcommittee

This group will explore the adoption of construction and property technology (ConTech and PropTech) across Ontario’s residential sector. From digital permitting and modular construction to smart home integration and post-occupancy tools, the subcommittee will examine how innovation can enhance project timelines, efficiency, and resident experience.

Electrification & Energy Transition Subcommittee

As the industry shifts toward electrification and low-carbon energy systems, this subcommittee will focus on builder-informed, practical pathways to support that transition. Topics will include distributed energy resources (DERs), grid capacity, utility coordination, and regulatory alignment to ensure sustainable, scalable energy solutions.

Building Code Harmonization Subcommittee

With the harmonization of Ontario’s Building Code and the National Building Code underway, this group will help ensure Ontario-specific considerations remain front and centre. Members will engage with national and provincial consultations, examine Tarion implications, and work with municipalities on aligning Green Development Standards with code frameworks.
